Ka‘ū, Hawai‘i — The Hawaiʻi Police Department is actively seeking the public’s help in locating 34-year-old Simon Varela, who was reported missing from the Ka‘ū district. Varela was last seen on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at a residence in the Hawaii Ocean View Estates subdivision, located in the 92-2100 block of Ocean View Parkway. Since then, there has been no contact with him.

Varela may be driving a gold-colored 2003 Toyota Matrix with Hawaii license plate ZMF837. The vehicle is a four-door station wagon and is notable for having significant rust on the hood.
