Hawaiʻi Island police are seeking witnesses as part of their investigation into an incident involving livestock in the Waimea area.

On January 4, 2021, South Kohala patrol officers responded to a report of an eight-month-old black-colored steer that was killed and the meat removed on private property, in the area known as Dairy Fence off Mana Road, in Waimea. The incident occurred sometime between Sunday evening, January 3, 2021, and Monday morning, January 4, 2021.

The owners informed officers that the steer had recently been treated with medications and the meat that was removed is not suitable for human consumption.
