Police Seek Four Suspects for Thefts in Waikoloa and Waimea

by Thunda

Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying four people involved in two separate thefts at stores in Waimea and Waikoloa.

On Monday, April 5, 2021, four people entered a grocery store in Waikoloa between 6:25 p.m. and 6:48 p.m. and collectively removed 18 bottles of Crown Royal alcohol, leaving the store without paying for the items. After being confronted by store employees all four suspects entered a dark-colored Nissan Frontier with black rims and fled the area. However, the crime was not reported to police until 1:48 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6,2021.

A grocery store in Waimea reported that four suspects also stole three bottles of Crown Royal alcohol on April 5, at 7:50 p.m., and left the area in a dark-colored Nissan Frontier with black rims. However, the employees at the second grocery store also did not report the crime until April 6 at 6:21 p.m. When South Kohala officers responded to the business in the 65-1100 block of Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea, they reviewed the security video footage and verified that the thefts were committed by the same four suspects.

The suspects are described as two men and two women. Both men are described as being between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. The first man is Caucasian with a very thin build while the second man is described as having short black hair.

Both women are described as Caucasian, 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 4 inches tall, with brown hair. One woman appears to be pregnant.

The vehicle is described as a newer model, dark colored four-door Nissan Frontier with black rims.

Anyone with information about the identity of the above suspects is asked to contact Sergeant Erich Jackson at the South Kohala Police Station, at (808) 887-3080, or via email at Erich.Jackson@hawaiicounty.gov or the police department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311.
