Police Seeking Person of Interest in Kona Assault Investigation

Hawai‘i Island police are requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man who is a person of interest in an assault investigation that took place at a Kailua Kona beach.

Around 6:03 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, it was reported that an unidentified male assaulted a patron at a beach located off of Hulikoa Street. The man was captured on a video recording that documented a portion of the incident.

The man is described as possibly being in his late 30s or early 40s, having a thin build and a light brown complexion, with a tattoo on his right shoulder that resembles scales. He was last seen wearing black shorts and no shirt.
