State Road and Highways Roadwork and Lane Closures for June 11 – 17, 2021

FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 11 – JUNE 17

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

There will be no daytime roadwork scheduled on Friday, June 10 in observance of King Kamehameha I Day, unless permitted. Highway 130 special use lanes will not be operational.

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) HILO

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 3 and 5, E Palai Street and Ikaika Street, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work.

2) KEAAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 7 and 9, Keaau Loop and North Road, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

3) PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 56 and 58, Ninole Loop Road and Alanui Road, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

4) CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 102 and 104, Mamalahoa Highway and Telephone Exchange Road, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching and shoulder work.

— HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) HILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile marker 2.5, Wailuku Stream Bridge from Shipman Street to Iliahi Street, on Monday, June 13 through Tuesday, June 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for bridge improvements.

2) PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 7 and 8, near Kaapoko Homestead Road, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching, shoulder work and sidearm mowing.

3) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Friday, June 10 through Friday, June 17, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.

4) HONOMU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

— KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD/ PAHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

1) KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 0.0 and 3, Highway 130 intersection with Hawaii Belt Road and Keaau High School, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder grading and mulching.

2) KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 0.0 and 3, Highway 130 intersection with Hawaii Belt Road and Keaau High School, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for installation of traffic loop detectors.

3) PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) — 

1) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.

2) KAMUELA

Right lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) in the southbound direction near mile marker 5.6, in the vicinity of Saddle Road, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for construction of a new access road.

— AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) —

1) KOHALA

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 4 and 7, Lele Naia Drive and Kaala Road, on Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work and restoration.
