Traffic Stop Yields 26 Charges of Honokaʻa Man Adam Kahekili Kepoo

Hawai‘i Island police have arrested and charged 27-year-old Adam Kahekili Kepoo of Honoka‘a with an array of offenses stemming from a domestic incident that occurred in a vehicle in Kawaihae on Friday, April 23, 2021.

While conducting patrols at the Kawaihae Boat Harbor, South Kohala patrol officers contacted two occupants of a vehicle parked near the exit gate. Upon contacting the adult female driver, she reported being involved in a domestic incident with the male passenger, identified as Adam Kepoo. He was arrested and transported to the Kealakehe Police Station for further investigation.

Detectives with the Area II Juvenile Aid Section continued the investigation and determined that multiple domestic incidents involving the victim and Kepoo occurred in the Hamakua and South Kohala districts.

After conferring with prosecutors, detectives from the Area II Juvenile Aid Section charged Kepoo with a total of 26 offenses: 12 counts of abuse of a family household member, three counts each of assault in the second-degree and terroristic threatening in the first degree, two counts of terroristic threatening in the second degree, and one count each of attempted felony abuse of a family household member, felony abuse of a family household member, kidnapping, theft in the fourth degree, open container, and unauthorized possession of confidential information.

The bail was set at $22,250. His initial court appearance was scheduled for Monday, April 26, in the Kona District Court. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 27, in the Kona District Court.
