Washington Woman Charged with Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Possession

A Washington woman, 32 year-old Courtney Jordan Cato was charged with fentanyl and methamphetamine possession offenses in relation to an October 5, 2022 incident.

Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen reports the Complaint alleges, Cato was charged with Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree (possess 25 or more fentanyl tablets) and Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree (possess over an eighth of an ounce of methamphetamine). Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree is a class B felony offense punishable by either a ten (10) year prison term or four years probation and up to 18 months in jail.

Cato is scheduled to make her initial appearance on Monday in Hilo District Court. She remains in custody in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.

The felony investigation was handled by Detective Kelly Moniz, Area I Vice Section, Hawai‘i Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Elyssa Correia Keltner.

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
