Hawai‘i County will receive a $2.25 million Federal grant to explore wastewater solutions for Puna town centers.
The funds from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration will be used to conduct a Puna Wastewater Programmatic Environmental Assessment.
The assessment was identified as a project in the Kīlauea Recovery and Resilience Plan. It will allow the County to make informed choices when planning for wastewater infrastructure in Puna commercial centers to address both environmental and economic development needs.
