Proposed 2022 County District Voting Lines Open to Public Comment

The new proposed 2022 County District voting lines based on 2020 Census Data are ready for public comment. If accepted these lines will represent the voting districts for the next 10 years.

Opportunities to provide in-person or virtual testimony on both dates will be made available to the public at these two locations today and Tuesday, December 16, 2021

Hearings on both dates will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude 15 minutes after the last testifier.

For in-person Testimony

For the Commission may be aware of expected capacities as much as possible, individuals who plan to testify in-person are asked to register by emailing redistrictingcommission@hawaiicounty.gov or calling (808) 961-8020.

If you wish to testify in person, plan to be at the site before the hearing since there is no set end time.

Note: All current federal, state and local guidelines, rules and proclamations to ensure public safety in addressing the COVID-19pandemic will be adhered to at thepublic hearing sites. This may include limiting the amount of individuals accessing the indoor location. You may be asked to remain outdoors until we are able to allow access at the appropriate time.

To inquire on availability or to request access to the hearings on Zoom, contact Commission staff at redistrictingcommission@hawaiicounty.gov or (808) 961-8020. Upon receiving a request, you will be provided with the access code information and brief instructions.

To ensure adequate response,please submit registration requests at least 24 hours prior to the time of your intended attendance.

Written testimony may be submitted by:

(1) email to redistrictingcommission@hawaiicounty.gov,

(2) facsimile to (808) 961-8673, or

(3) mail to Redistricting Commission, Office of the County Clerk, 25 Aupuni Street, Suite 1402, Hilo, Hawai’i 96720.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please call 808-961-8020 as soon as possible, preferably by two business days prior to the schedule hearing you are requesting assistance for. If a contact for this accommodation is made within two days of the hearing, an attempt to obtain the auxiliary aid/service or accommodation, but we cannot guarantee that the request will be fulfilled.
