State Road and Highways Roadwork and Lane Closures for January 15 – 21, 2021

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

There will be no daytime roadwork scheduled on Monday, Jan. 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, unless permitted. Highway 130 special use lanes will not be operational.

— KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) —

1) HILO (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) in both directions between mile markers 2 and 4, W Puainako Street and Lama Street, on Saturday, Jan. 15 through Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) KEAUHOU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 116 and 117, Walua Road and Kahoolele Street, on Saturday, Jan. 15 through Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming, mulching, and mowing work.

 — MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) VOLCANO (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 27 and 38, Haunani Road and Hawaii Belt Road, on Saturday, Jan. 15 through Sunday, Jan. 16, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for removal and installation of directional and informational signs.

2) KAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 52 and 56, Maile Street and Ninole Loop Road, on Saturday, Jan. 15 through Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

 

— HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 6.7, Kopilimai Road and Kapue Bridge, on Monday, Jan. 17 through Friday, Jan. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility work. 

2) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 12 to 15, Old Mamalahoa Highway and Chin Chuck Road, on Saturday, Jan. 15 through Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting. 

3) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Saturday, Jan. 15 through Friday, Jan. 21, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work. 

4) HONOMU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

 

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

1) KAMUELA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3 and 6, near Saddle Road, on Saturday, Jan. 15 through Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

2) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, near Saddle Road, on Monday, Jan. 17 through Friday, Jan. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, rumble strip installation and other safety improvements.

— AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) —

1) KAWAIHAE (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 4 and 6, Lele Naia Drive and Kohala Ranch Road, on Saturday, Jan. 15 through Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.

2) HALAWA

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 22.4 and 23.2, Halaula Maulili Road and Niu Lane, on Monday, Jan. 17 through Friday, Jan. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for utility work.
