State Road and Highways Roadwork and Lane Closures for December 31 – January 6, 2022

FOR THE WEEK OF  DECEMBER 31 – JANUARY 6

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

Note: The Holiday Lane Closure Restriction runs from Monday, Dec. 19, through Monday, Jan. 2. Only closures with demonstrated need (e.g., necessary for safety or to avoid lengthy construction delays) have been approved and are on this list. Special use lanes and HOV lanes will not operate during this time. All regular closures will resume Jan. 3.

The Highway 130 Contraflow will not operate on Monday, Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s Holiday.

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 16 and 20, in the vicinity of N. Peck Road to S. Glenwood Road, from Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

2) VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK TO PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamaloha Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 30 and 51.3, from the vicinity of Volcanoes National Park to Kamani Street, on Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of cables on existing utility poles.

3) HONUAPO TO NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 60 and 63, from Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

4) CAPTAIN COOK TO KAINALIU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 110 and 113, vicinity of Napoopoo Road and Tide Lane, from Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for vegetation cutting

— HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) PAPAIKOU TO PEPEEKEO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 8 and 11, vicinity of Hanawi Street and Old Mamalahoa Road, from Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for vegetation cutting

2) PAPAALOA TO OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 23 and 27.6, vicinity of Kapehu Road to Stevens Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving.

— QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) —

1) WAIKOLOA

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 69 and 71, in the vicinity of Hoohana Street and Hapuna Beach Road, Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for tree clearing with excavator.

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) — 

1) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 0 and 2, vicinity of Waimea-Kohala Airport Road to Lindsey Road, Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for pothole patching.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) — 

1) KOHALA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 9 and 13, vicinity of Kohala Ranch Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 6, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for resurfacing.

— DKI HIGHWAY/ SADDLE ROAD (ROUTE 200) —

1) SADDLE ROAD

Single lane closure on Saddle Road (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile markers 28 and 29, on Tuesday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for shoulder stabilization along Maunakea Access Road.
