Hilo Man Albert Wayne Jardine, Jr. Charged With Felony Drug Possession and Attempted Distribution Offenses

Today, Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that a Hilo man, 40 year-old Albert Wayne Jardine, Jr. was charged with felony drug possession and attempted distribution offenses.
As the Complaint alleges, Jardine, who has nine (9) prior felony convictions, was charged with Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree, Attempted Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree for attempting to distribute over an eight of an ounce of methamphetamine, and Driving Without a License. If convicted, Jardine faces the possibility of a mandatory prison term, as he is a repeat offender pursuant to Section 706-606.5 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes.
The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Jardine is scheduled to make his initial appearance this afternoon in Hilo District Court. He remains in custody in lieu of $75,500.00 bail.
The investigation was handled by the Area I Vice Unit, Hawai‘i Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Elyssa Correia Keltner.
