A 26-year-old Pāhala man was arrested and charged for felony abuse and terroristic threatening after Hawai‘i Island police responded to a domestic incident at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

While Ka‘ū patrol officers were en route to the reported domestic dispute in the 96-1000 block of Iliau Street in Pāhala, they received information that a man at the residence had assaulted multiple people and discharged a firearm before leaving the area on foot.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the man, later identified as Trieson Pascubillo, had grabbed his 75-year-old grandfather and 73-year-old grandmother by their necks and struck them during a verbal altercation on the second floor of their residence.

Following the assault, Pascubillo reportedly discharged two rounds from a rifle into the floor with one of the rounds piercing through a pickup truck that was parked beneath the residence.

He then reportedly pointed the rifle at his grandfather and threatened to shoot him. Pascubillo eventually left the residence on foot carrying the firearm, which relatives described as a “hunting rifle” with a wooden stock and a scope affixed.

While at the scene, officers confirmed the presence of two bullet holes in the floor of the residence and recovered spent 30-06 caliber shell casings within close proximity of the holes.

Police later located Pascubillo at another residence in the 96-3000 block of Pakalana Street and placed him under arrest. A search was conducted for the firearm in question, however, the rifle could not be located.

Upon conferring with the County Prosecutor’s Office, Pascubillo was charged with the following offenses:

  • Two counts of felony abuse of a family/household member
  • Two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening
  • First-degree reckless endangering

Due to these offenses being committed against the elderly, his bail was set high at $100,000.

Police ask that anyone who may any information regarding this incident to please contact Officer Russ Fiesta of the Ka‘ū Patrol at (808) 939-2520.
