Today, Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that a Pahoa man, 52-year-old Robert Domen, was charged for possession of methamphetamine and traffic-crime-related offenses. At the time of his arrest, Domen was out of custody pending two class “A” felony methamphetamine offenses related to a February 2021 incident.

As the Complaint alleges, Domen, a repeat offender with four (4) prior felony convictions, was charged with four (4) offenses including Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree (possession of over an ounce of methamphetamine), Prohibited Acts Related to Drug Paraphernalia, Blue Lights Prohibited for Motor Vehicle, and Driving Without a License. If convicted as charged of the Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree offense, Domen faces sentencing to a mandatory prison term. Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree carries a maximum penalty of a twenty (20) year prison term.

Domen is scheduled to make his initial appearance on Monday in Hilo District Court. He remains in custody in lieu of $53,000.00 bail.
