33rd Annual Richardson Roughwater Swim Returns on August 8

The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation announces the 33rd Annual Richardson Roughwater Swim, which will be held on Sunday, August 8, at Richardson Ocean Park, in Hilo. The Richardson Roughwater Swim covers a one-mile course in the open ocean.
This is an event for swimmers with strong swimming skills as participants may encounter windy conditions, large ocean swells, and/or strong currents.

Registration forms are available for pick up at all County of Hawaiʻi pools and at the Recreation Division office is located at 799 Piʻilani Street in Hilo. The registration fee is $20 through July 31, 2021, increasing to $30 thereafter. Participants will be divided into age-based groups in both the fins and no-fins categories.

The public is encouraged to register early to assist in planning and organizing efforts. Commemorative t-shirts will be provided to registered participants while supplies last. All COVID-19 rules in effect at the time of the event will be enforced.
