Puna Man Charged with Felony Shoplifting for an Incident at Prince Kuhio Plaza

Things are not looking so bright for a Puna Man who has been accused of Felony Shoplifting of Sunglasses from a business in Hilo.
Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that a Puna man, 31 year-old Brenton Agsalda was charged with felony shoplifting for an incident that occurred on November 6th at the Sunglass Hut located in the Prince Kuhio Plaza.
As the Complaint alleges, Agsalda was charged with Theft in the Second Degree (theft of sunglasses, the value of which exceeded $750.00). At the time of his arrest in the felony shoplifting incident, Agsalda was also arrested on five (5) outstanding warrants, including two warrants in connection with pending revocation of probation matters and three (3) warrants in relation to district court non-appearance offenses.
Agsalda will make his initial appearance today in Hilo District Court. He remains in custody in lieu of a total of $13,100.00 bail.
The investigation was handled by Officers Sheldon Adviento and Bryson Pilor, South Hilo Patrol, Hawai‘i Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ha’aheo Kaho’ohalahala.
The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
